Revolutionizing Sustainable Chemistry: SixRing’s Innovative Patented Solutions for Biomass Transformation

SixRing™ has developed a suite of patented chemical compositions, methods, and low-energy processes to convert sustainable biomass into intermediates and fine chemicals, biofuels, and advanced materials.

Unlike other biofuels technologies that use high-temperature and high-pressure processes – the SixRing process operates at ambient conditions.

The fine chemicals and molecules inherent in the biomass are intact and can be easily extracted from the output products – being cellulose and Lignin-Hemicellulose-Depolymerized-Organics™ (LHDO™).  SixRing cellulose and LHDO can be easily upgraded to higher value biofuels such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (“SAF”), diesel, gasoline, and platform chemicals.

SixRing’s range of products includes:

  • High purity cellulose and/or derivatives such as cellulosic ethanol;

  • Liquid bio-crude product that is a mixture of organic molecules termed LHDO. A valuable hydrophobic bio-crude with a low viscosity, low molecular-weight liquid, high-value product, which consists of valuable fine chemicals and condensed aromatic structures with the majority in the C3 to C24 range and contains very low levels of inorganic impurities; and

  • High value sustainable biochemicals and other petrochemical feedstocks via the hemicellulose

Our Mission: SixRing will develop innovative chemical technologies that address significant global challenges, de-risk those technologies through research, piloting, and partnerships, and cultivate the relationships to deploy those technologies globally.

Transitioning to sustainable biomass solutions is of utmost importance in addressing the complex issues of climate change, energy security, and environmental conservation, while fostering economic advantages and enhancing energy accessibility.

The SixRing process operates at ambient conditions, creating minimal emissions. The low-energy process utilizes green chemistry with a very high recyclability of process chemicals.

“The SixRing team found LHDO to be rich in organic molecules and proved to be a commercially viable bio-crude and its high bioavailability cellulose can be further processed to ultra-high yields of cellulosic ethanol
and other common platform chemicals. LHDO can be hydrotreated and yields a product very similar to a light sweet crude and/or be upgraded to a higher value biofuel as a ‘drop-in’ for SAF, diesel and gasoline.”
